Top Tips for Hot Summer Driving

Posted by Unknown On Monday, 28 May 2012 4 comments

“A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.”

Thank you Einstien, you are living in my heart. That was true, so that here are the top tips to avoid hot summer driving problems
Drive safely

1- Your Health and safety:

- Keep a car fire extinguisher near to you, just in case.
- keep a large bottle of water near to you and may be some of your favorite fruits, snacks, juice, or cold drinks. Sunburn affects your body's ability to cool itself and causes a loss of body fluids.
- Do not leave Children or pets in a Car alone. Even if the car was air conditioned or the windows are open. Don’t leave them fallen asleep in the car.
- Avoid sudden change in temperature; this will be stressful to your body. Stay one min in your car with opened windows to gradually temperature change.
- Direct sun exposure so harmful.
- In case of driving or riding in a convertible, wrap your hair well, wear a sunglasses, or wear a hat.
- Keep a fully-charged mobile phone with you in case of emergency
- If you are 65 years of age or older, keep in contact with a friend along the way
- keep the first aid bag
Please Drive Safe

2- Your car health and safety

- Check tire pressures, avoid tire over pressure due to hot roads.
- Check your radiator coolant levels, and be sure there is no leakage under your car or around the radiator, and hoses.
- Check your engine oil levels, and be sure there is no leakage under your car or around the engine
- Check the cooling fan for proper operation
- Don’t fill your fuel tank up to the brim, the heat expansion could cause a fuel leak.
- Don't splash hot engine or brakes with water. This is  extreme thermal stress over any hot body.
- Park in the shade.

Drive safe, and remember there is always someone waiting for you, and another one is writing this article for you :) waiting your comment too

Car simplification: 1- what is car? P1

car simplification
what is car? part 1

Introduction:
Start Taking about cars required much thinking to decide where to start from?. So that, I decide to start from zero :) . Yes, from zero.

What is Car?
Cars, vehicles, automobiles, trucks, or even autos are different names for the same thing. Car is a device helping you to not suffering. In other words, a car saves your time, effort, energy, and goods. Cars can be your sport, hobby, study, home, friend “Transformers are example:) ” or a slave waiting at the garage for your orders.
But, technically car is combination from a mechanical, electrical and, Accessory parts assembled by mechanical angels.

What are main Car Parts?
1-      Engine (petrol, gasoline, electric motor, or combination of them called hybrid ).
Gives the car POWER to run.
2-      Transmission system.
      For speed variation.
3-      Steering system.
      To control the direction.
4-      Braking System.
To stop the car when you need.
5-      Suspension system.
Comfort for the driver and the passenger, and safety for goods.
6-      Safety parts.
       Ensure you are safe.
7-   Electric and electronic systems
       Parts communicating
8-      Body and chassis.
To contain the previous parts and the driver.    Read more about Brakes

What are the components“not important or luxury”?
1-      Sound system.
2-      Air conditioning system “not for all countries”.
3-      Some accessories.

Are there classifications for cars?
Yes, there is too much classification or categorizing method here are some of my opinion
      1)      Classification due to usage:

     2)      Classification due to numbers of passengers:

     3)      Classification according to body shape:

    4)      Classification according to performance and customization:
FHWA Classification Chart
FHWA Classification Chart

    5)      Classification according to number of axis:
    6)      Classification due to vehicle weight :

    7)      Classification according to manufacturing country :

As shown above cars can be classified to million ways. Check another article at Wikipedia
but this is not the end, every day a new brand or  modification is exist, on other hands care model can be classification or categorizing method.

Brake System: 5- BAS (Brake Assist System)

 5- BAS (Brake Assist System)
What is BAS?
Simply, a brake assist system monitors the driver’s use of the brake pedal, automatically sensing an attempt to stop the car as a result of panic.
It then provides very high braking power, even when the driver is only pressing gently on the brake pedal.

When this is used together with anti-lock braking systems, it success in faster and safer braking.

BAS Action chart
Depending on the driver, statistics for emergency stops in cars using this technology range from a 20% - 45% reduction in stopping distances, a potentially significant difference in critical situations.

Some road tests show that a driver requires up to 240 feet (73 meters) to stop a car heading around 60 mph (100 km/h).

In the same circumstances, cars with brake assist were able to come to a complete stop in as little as 130 feet (40 meters).
Since it only takes one-fifth of a second to travel a car length at highway speeds, the superior speed with which the brake assist is able to react also accounts for its improved safety results over traditional braking systems.

Brake System: 4- LSD (Limited Slip Differential)

Posted by Unknown On Wednesday, 9 May 2012 38 comments
4- LSD (Limited Slip Differential)
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or extracted type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some variation in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
effect of LSD
LSD Effect On The Road

The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all.

In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely

the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices.

For more demanding use, such as driving in mud, off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.
