Auto Revolution: 6-Hydrogen Car

Hydrogen Car:

Fuel Cell provides an electric motor through an inverter with electricity.
car
Full Cell Car
If the fuel cell is powered with pure hydrogen, it has the potential to be up to 80% efficient then converting 80 % of the energy content of the hydrogen into electrical energy.
However, we still need to convert the electrical energy into mechanical work and, This is accomplished by the electric motor and inverter.

A fuel cell is an electrochemical energy conversion device. A fuel cell converts the chemicals hydrogen and oxygen into water, and this produces quietly and efficiently electricity without pollution. The best part is, the by-products from an operating fuel cell are heat and water

Auto Revolution: 5- Air Car

Air Car:

Air Car
Compressed Air Engine
As an alternative of a gasoline engine, air cars will almost certainly use the Compressed Air Engine (CAE).  Air can be used as fuel to this type of engines. This will produce enough power for speeds of about 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour.think air could become an even better energy source.
Air is all around us. Air never runs out. Air is nonpolluting. Best of all, air is free. Unfortunately, air alone can't be used as a fuel. First, energy has to be stored in it by squeezing the air tightly using a mechanical air compressor. Once the compressed air is released, it expands. This expanding air can be used, for example, to drive the pistons that power an engine.

POWERED BY: Compressed Air
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Could be established to run the Air compressor.
FUEL: Powered by an Compressed Air Engine (CAE)
GASOLINE ENGINE OPERATION: Does not have a gasoline engine

Auto Revolution : 4- EV or Electric Vehicles

Electric Car:

EV
Electric Vehicle
As an alternative of a gasoline engine,  all-electric vehicle will have an electric motor and high-voltage lithium-ion battery. It will operate purely on electricity and is aimed to go up to 100 miles on a single charge.

Because electricity is often cheaper than gasoline, it may be less costly to operate. Especially if you charge the battery at night when electric rates are lower.

And Because electricity is cleaner than gasoline, it will be the best friend to the planet. The all-electric vehicle "EV" will also feature a Regenerative Braking System, which will enable it to capture braking energy and store it for later use. and needs no cooling and lots mechanical components so energy is saved also.

POWERED BY: Lithium-ion battery with the highest voltage capacity
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Must recharge by plugging into an electric outlet
FUEL: Powered by an electric motor and battery
BATTERY CHARGED BY: 120-volt outlet or 240-volt outlet upgraded with electric vehicle supply equipment
GASOLINE ENGINE OPERATION: Does not have a gasoline engine
ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATION: Provides all the driving power for the vehicle to a targeted range of up to 100 miles3- Hydrogen Car:

Auto Revolution: 3- Plugin - Hybrid Car

Plugin - Hybrid Car:

There is no much different between hybrid and plugin-hybrid. The plug-in hybrid electric automobile provides maximum fuel efficiency by pairing a unique high-voltage battery and electric motor with a gasoline engine. This means the gasoline engine does not have to run all the time.
Hybrid Car
Plugin - Hybrid Car

That's better for the planet. The plug-in functionality allows you to charge the battery using sometimes a 120-volt or a 240-volt outlet upgraded with electric vehicle supply devices. By doing so, you extend the distance this vehicle can travel in all-electric mode. Its high-voltage lithium-ion battery provides enough power to operate in all-electric mode for short driving times. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle also features a Regenerative Braking System, which enables it to capture braking energy and store it for later use.

POWERED BY: Gasoline engine and high-voltage battery
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Though not absolutely necessary, plugging in will provide optimal performance
FUEL: Will operate entirely on gasoline, entirely on electricity or on a combination of both
BATTERY CHARGED BY: The gas engine, recycled energy from braking and by plugging into a 120-volt outlet or 240-volt outlet upgraded with electric vehicle supply equipment
GASOLINE ENGINE OPERATION: Powers vehicle at higher speeds, shuts off at low speeds and when vehicle is stopped
ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATION: Powers vehicle at low to moderate speeds and for short commutes

Auto Revolution: 2- Hybrid Car

Hybrid Car:

Hybrid Car
Hybrid Car
It's called a hybrid for the reason that it's part gasoline engine, and part electric motor. The gasoline engine does not have to run all the time. And when hybrid car is getting powered by electricity, it's not burning gasoline.

Good for fuel efficiency.
Good for the planet.
In most circumstances at low speeds and for short distances, hybrid cars run exclusively on electricity. At higher speeds, and when you need more power, the gasoline engine kicks in. hybrid cars also feature a Regenerative Braking System. Unlike a traditional gasoline engine where the energy generated by braking is lost, this capture braking energy and store it for later use.

POWERED BY: Gasoline engine and electric motor
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Doesn't need to be plugged in
FUEL: Gasoline
BATTERY CHARGED BY: When running, the gasoline engine charges battery. Energy from braking is also captured to charge battery
GASOLINE ENGINE OPERATION: Powers vehicle at higher speeds, shuts off at low speeds and when vehicle is stopped
ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATION: Powers vehicle at low speeds and for short distances

Auto Revolution: 1- Conventional car

Conventional car
Every one knows about traditional cars. The type of vehicle we've all grown up with is operated by an internal combustion engine (ICE), which works continuously until you shut the vehicle off. To operate it, you send gas in the engine; the exhaust exits the tailpipe.
traditional car
conventional car

A significant amount of an internal combustion engine's energy is lost during braking, and about 30% of energy wasted in engine cooling. not to mention, how much Energy are used to moves and operates about 2 tons of mechanical components.  Capturing this energy and using it for powering the car was one of the car-makers dreams.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: None
FUEL: Gasoline
BATTERY CHARGED BY: When running, the engine charges battery.

Car simplification: 1- what is car? P2

My girl friend, she is have strong and smooth body, a beating heart “little faster but, its ok.”, a thinking brain and, a flowing blood. She can breathe, dance, drink, eat, and even she feels my sensation “yup, she is”. But she is blind “So poor :-(“. So I promised her to spend my life driving her along the off roads.

This is true; cars bodies are made to be smooth to reduce air resistance, and strong in case of accident. Engines works as a heart to the car and its beat is varying between 800 rpm to 6500 rpm. The ECU (Electronic Control Unite) plays as the brain so that, its can think. Liquids are flowing inside the engine, brake, and the cooling system. It can breathe and drink (Air + Fuel) the Air-Fuel mixture, Dance when you drive it. Finally, eat your money if she went sick.

Car simplification
what is car? Part 2

But, how is that working together?
A great car designer’s are working to establish the relations between the discussed main parts.
                                                       “Read Part 1”.
When the relations are established, the car goes acting like human being.
Let us knew briefly, what every part is doing to establish the relation.
1-      The Engine (Internal Combustion Engine).

What is the engine?
Engine is a mechanical device, which convert energy that exists due to combustion of air-fuel mixture into a rotational movement. [Chemical energy to Mechanical energy]
4- stroke Engine
When firing a pressurized "air-fuel mixture" that inside a sealed chamber with only one moving side (called a cylinder), an extreme explosion occurs forces the moving side to move in the opposite direction of the explosion (result of pressure increases).

The moving side (called a piston) connected by mechanical components (called connecting rod) to a type of rotating shafts with special design (called Crank Shaft). This arrangement of parts forces the crank shaft to rotate. Now the movement is established.

This cycle repeated, entering the mixture, increase the mixture pressure, firing the mixture, and let the exhaust exit.

Every step of this cycle called a stroke, which means we have four strokes in one cycle and that gives the engine another name (four – stroke engine).
Engines commonly have an arrangement of 4, 6, 8, or 12 cylinders. Those may be arranged v-shape or in-line.

How dose the air-fuel mixture entering the chamber?
Fuel System

There are too many ways to entering the mixture into the engine chamber. The old way is called carburetors but after development, a new era of injection systems and turbo chargers are appeared.

Injection systems are the responsible part to inject the fuel into the engine chamber while turbo charger increases the rate of air charging.

Bosch Fuel Injection System
On the other hands, at the top of every chamber a set a valves works to entering the mixture, and exiting the exhaust gases.

The four valves for each cylinder are commonly used. The 4 valves are divided (two valves for the intake, and two for the exhaust). A driving shaft (called camshaft) is swing the valves into open-close position.

But how we can ignite the mixture inside the sealed chamber?
What is gasoline and petrol? And what is the difference?

All will be answer follow the next part, to be continued……

car simplification
what is car? part 1

Introduction:
Start Taking about cars required much thinking to decide where to start from?. So that, I decide to start from zero :) . Yes, from zero.

What is Car?
Cars, vehicles, automobiles, trucks, or even autos are different names for the same thing. Car is a device helping you to not suffering. In other words, a car saves your time, effort, energy, and goods. Cars can be your sport, hobby, study, home, friend “Transformers are example:) ” or a slave waiting at the garage for your orders.
But, technically car is combination from a mechanical, electrical and, Accessory parts assembled by mechanical angels.

What are main Car Parts?
1-      Engine (petrol, gasoline, electric motor, or combination of them called hybrid ).
Gives the car POWER to run.
2-      Transmission system.
      For speed variation.
3-      Steering system.
      To control the direction.
4-      Braking System.
To stop the car when you need.
5-      Suspension system.
Comfort for the driver and the passenger, and safety for goods.
6-      Safety parts.
       Ensure you are safe.
7-   Electric and electronic systems
       Parts communicating
8-      Body and chassis.
To contain the previous parts and the driver.    Read more about Brakes

What are the components“not important or luxury”?
1-      Sound system.
2-      Air conditioning system “not for all countries”.
3-      Some accessories.

Are there classifications for cars?
Yes, there is too much classification or categorizing method here are some of my opinion
      1)      Classification due to usage:

     2)      Classification due to numbers of passengers:

     3)      Classification according to body shape:

    4)      Classification according to performance and customization:
FHWA Classification Chart
FHWA Classification Chart

    5)      Classification according to number of axis:
    6)      Classification due to vehicle weight :

    7)      Classification according to manufacturing country :

As shown above cars can be classified to million ways. Check another article at Wikipedia
but this is not the end, every day a new brand or  modification is exist, on other hands care model can be classification or categorizing method.

Brake System: 5- BAS (Brake Assist System)

 5- BAS (Brake Assist System)
What is BAS?
Simply, a brake assist system monitors the driver’s use of the brake pedal, automatically sensing an attempt to stop the car as a result of panic.
It then provides very high braking power, even when the driver is only pressing gently on the brake pedal.

When this is used together with anti-lock braking systems, it success in faster and safer braking.
Brake assist system
BAS Action chart
Depending on the driver, statistics for emergency stops in cars using this technology range from a 20% - 45% reduction in stopping distances, a potentially significant difference in critical situations.

Some road tests show that a driver requires up to 240 feet (73 meters) to stop a car heading around 60 mph (100 km/h).

In the same circumstances, cars with brake assist were able to come to a complete stop in as little as 130 feet (40 meters).
Since it only takes one-fifth of a second to travel a car length at highway speeds, the superior speed with which the brake assist is able to react also accounts for its improved safety results over traditional braking systems.

Brake System: 4- LSD (Limited Slip Differential)

Posted by Unknown On Wednesday, 9 May 2012 38 comments
4- LSD (Limited Slip Differential)
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or extracted type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some variation in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
effect of LSD
LSD Effect On The Road

The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all.

In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely

the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices.

For more demanding use, such as driving in mud, off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.
